Key Center School, January 9th, 14th, and 16th, 2026
Key Center School-Based Technology Specialist Beth Curtis wrote a feature story for FCPS about Key Center’s collaboration with the Lewis Leadership Program Museum of Service. Here is an excerpt from her article:
Key Middle School Librarian, Monisha Blair, has been an enthusiastic advocate for ensuring that Key Center students could not only visit the museum, but truly engage with it. With her support, adaptations such as picture symbols and other visual supports were put in place so students of all abilities could access and enjoy the exhibit.
A special highlight of the museum is an exhibit created by students from the Sontag and Stewart classes in the Key Center 17–22 program. These students prepared an engaging display honoring disability rights advocate, Judy Heumann. Their exhibit celebrates her work, her leadership, and her impact on the disability rights movement. The display has been a valuable and meaningful addition to the museum and shows how students can contribute powerful stories of their own.
