Saratoga Elementary School, February 6-12, 2026
By Fazl, 11th Grade
I had the opportunity to visit Saratoga Elementary School and help transform the library into the Lewis Leadership Program’s Museum of Service. We carefully set up banners and displays highlighting the initiatives Lewis students have led like Yarn Club, food drives, La Liguita, and other projects that reflect our commitment to giving back. Seeing everything come together in a space filled with young students made the experience feel even more meaningful.
As we walked the 5th and 6th graders through the museum, I kept thinking about how not long ago, I was once a kid sitting in assemblies and listening to older students speak. Now, I was the one sharing what service looks like in action. The students were curious and engaged, asking questions and imagining how they could make a difference too. After the tour, we led an activity where they drew on hand or heart cutouts what service means to them, how they want to help their community, or someone they would nominate for the museum. Their answers were heartfelt and genuine. It reminded me that leadership starts young, and that even the smallest hands can make the biggest difference.
